Our Beloved Minnie Jo Has Passed On

Minnie Josephine Seely, 95, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away peacefully, November 16, 2019, in the presence of loved ones. She was reunited with her eternal companion, Boyd Richard Seely. Minnie Jo was born July 18th, 1924, in Corsicana Navarro, Texas. She was the oldest of two children born to Wayne Brown and Ida Ethel Berry. Minnie Jo was known for her big expressive blue eyes that at times told a better story than any words. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and loved to tell jokes. She saw the positive in every situation. She was an avid reader of the scriptures, and the gospel of Jesus Christ meant everything to her. Even at 95, she still ministered to her sisters. She loved poetry and memorized many poems that she shared with everyone around her. She loved Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune and nobody but a fool would call during those episodes. She loved to play games, but all who played knew when you played a game with Minnie Jo, you followed her rules. Some of her talents she was best known for were cross-stitch, crocheting, and making rice bags. Minnie Jo is survived by her children, Wayne Seely, Sharon (Terry) Thompson, Linda (Tom) Motuapuaka, and Dean Seely, 16 grandchildren, and 19 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother. Funeral Services were held Saturday, November 23rd at 1:00, at the Mt. Pleasant 5th Ward

Dick Allred of Spring City Died at Veteran's Hospital in Salt Lake

Richard “Dick” Warren Allred, 80 of Spring City, Utah passed away November 1, 2019 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. Born April 24, 1939 to Frank Beck and Evaneal Olsen Allred in Salina, Utah. Dick served his country in the US Navy from 1957 to 1963. Married Dianne Ruth McCormick in 1963. He continued his education and earned his bachelors degree in Engineering. They lived in Southern California until 1978 and then moved to Spring City, UT where they raised their family. He was a member of the Sanpete County Search and Rescue where he served as the Commander and also as a State Commander. Dick enjoyed competition shooting and made many life long friends through Search and Rescue. Dick loved being and doing things with his family and grandchildren. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Dick is survived by his sons, Rick (Jody) Allred, Mt. Pleasant, UT; Frank (Lainie) Allred, Pleasant Grove, UT; brother Terry (Nevada) Allred, Spring City, UT; grandchildren, Jessica, Jorie, Riley, Adrianna, Rhyker. Preceded in death by his parents, wife Dianne, sisters LaRea Allred, Judy Allred. Funeral services will be held Wednesday November 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Cedar Creek Ward (7655 E 15000 N, Spring City) . Viewings, Tuesday November 5, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Wednesday from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services both at the church. Interment in the Spring City Cemetery with Military Honors.

Danny Ross Dyches, 68, passed on, October 28, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Danny was born Nov. 6, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Ut. to Dean and LaRae Carlson Dyches. He married Barbara Joan Johansen on June 7, 1975 in the Manti LDS Temple. They have a son, Jeremy (deceased); grandson, Brody; daughter, Nicole (Jason) Larson; granddaughters, Olivia, Brooklyn, and Gracie; daughter, Raquel Christensen; granddaughter Janee, grandsons Jaxon and Braxton. Danny was a State Farm agent for 41 years. Danny lived life to the fullest. He was a turkey grower, enjoyed farming, hunting, visiting with family and friends, riding the West mountain, and especially the deer hunt. Danny’s favorite holidays were the 4th of July and Christmas-riding around playing music. He loved spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. Danny had a love for everyone and will be missed by all who knew him. He loved serving his community, as Mayor of Moroni City, by taking care of the ball field and cemetery, and waving to everyone he saw. Danny was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had an unconditional love for all. Danny is survived by grandson, Brody; daughter Nicole (Jason) Larson, granddaughters, Olivia, Brooklyn, and Gracie; daughter, Raquel Christensen; granddaughter Janee, grandsons Jaxon and Braxton. Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, son Jeremy, his parents, Dean and LaRae Dyches, and siblings, Ranae Seely, Vernon Dyches, and Oleaha Mower, and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. The family would like to thank Kelli Davis and family for all their love and support. Services will be held November 2, 2019 in the Moroni LDS Stake Center

Betty Mae Jansson, 74 of Mt. Pleasant, Utah passed away peacefully in her sleep on Saturday, September 14, 2019 in Centerfield, Utah.
Betty was born on March 11, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah to Norma Porter Jansson. She shared her life alongside her brother and best friend Bert Porter. She was an angel walking this earth. Her love for family and friends was unsurmounted. She enjoyed meeting new people and welcoming them into her heart. She loved sharing stories about the old days.
Betty worked at the turkey plant in Moroni for most of her life, where she met many life-long friends. She loved being out in the community and spending time at Terrell’s, having a drink at Wheeler’s, getting her hair done at the salon, and riding with her brother on the side-by-side to look at the leaves up the canyon.
Betty is survived in life by her brother Bert (Elva) Porter, and her two nieces Tracy(Chad) Larsen and Kim (Dale) Sanderson. She adored her three great nieces and nephew; her 3 great-great nieces; and 2 great-great nephews; Lindsay, Cory, Alisha, Keerah, Braylin, Dreyson, Cooper, Oaklee. She is preceded in death by her mother Norma Jansson.

Married Steven Earle Johansen March 9, 1984 in Sterling, Utah. She is the mother of Jaclyn (Jeff) Lewis and Justin (Josee) Johansen. Funeral services will be held Saturday October 19, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center. Viewings will be held Friday October 18, 2019 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services both at the North Stake Center. Interment in the Mt. Annie Marie Hansen Morrison   Birth: Nov. 21, 1846, Denmark Death: Dec. 2, 1904 Richfield Sevier County Utah, USA Mrs. Maria Morrison of this city died yesterday forenoon at the age of 58 years. She had been an invalid for nearly two years and for weeks had been confined to her bed in a almost helpless condition as the result of a stroke of paralysis. She was a widow of the late William Morrison, whom she married at Mt. Pleasant in 1863. Mrs. Morrison was a native of Denmark and came to this country with her widowed mother in 1859. They settled first at Ephraim, then moved to Mt. Pleasant, and, after her marriage in 1863, the deceased came with her husband to Sevier County. They were among the first settlers of Richfield, but had to retire to Sanpete County on account of the Indian troubles in early times. After peace had been established they resettled here and lived until their deaths. Seven children were born to the couple, all of whom are living. Fred Hansen of this city is now the only living member of the deceased's brothers. Jed Lund Ericksen




Jed Lund Ericksen died August 12, 2019. He was born in Mt. Pleasant, Utah on February 7, 1945, to Harry and Ethel Lund Ericksen.
 Graduated from North Sanpete High School in 1963 where he was a three sport letterman and scholastic honor student. He received advanced degrees from BYU and University of Utah, graduating magna cum laude from each. 
Married Vickie Dawn Southwick in the Manti Temple. They are the parents of four children: Russell (and Chris) Ericksen, Ryan (and Ashley) Ericksen, Daniel (and Courtney) Ericksen and Brooke (and Jared) Lambeth. He has eight grandchildren. 
He had a long legacy of service in the LDS Church, having served in the Florida Mission, in the Stake Presidency of the Salt Lake Butler Stake and Bishop of the Butler 12th ward as well as multiple other callings over his lifetime. Jed’s professional career spanned 40 years in mental health service as an adjunct associate professor in the University of Utah School of Medicine, Department of Psychiatry and as Director of Psychiatric Emergency Services for Valley Mental Health and University Medical Center. 
He taught human behavior and abnormal behavior courses for the Utah State Peace Officer Standards and Training Academies for over 25 years and was instrumental in establishing and fostering Police Crisis Intervention Training (CIT Teams) throughout Utah. He was long recognized as the foremost authority on Civil Psychiatric Commitment law and procedure in Utah and taught Designated Examiner Certification for the Utah State Division of Mental Health for many years. Jed was extremely kind, gentle, wise, and selfless. We will miss him! Preceded in death by parents, 4 brothers, 1 sister.
Funeral services will be Saturday, August 17th at 11 am at Lehi North Stake Center located at 650 E 3200 N, Lehi, Utah.  A viewing will be held Friday, August 16th from 6-8pm at Anderson & Sons Mortuary located at 6141 W 11000 N, Highland, Utah and from 9:45 to 10:45 am on the day of the service at the Stake Center. Interment following services will be at Highland City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to Valley Mental Health Foundation or Utah Chapter of the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI-Utah).

Parley Hansen, 66, retired Mt. Pleasant business man, died at his home Sunday morning from a heart attack.

Mr. Hansen was formerly associated with his brother, the late Mayor Bent R. Hansen, in the lumber and mortuary business and also operated a saw mill, and had extensive building interests. Prior to his retirement a year ago he was employed in the Mt. Pleasant post office as an assistant to Postmaster Ray K. Bohne. 

He was a member of the South LDS ward elders' quorum. He had served one term as city councilman and was formerly a member of Liberty camp No. 455, Woodmen of the World and a charter member of the Mt. Pleasant Lions club.

He was born in Mt. Pleasant, December 10, 1874 (should be 1975), a son of Bent and Helena Olson Hansen. He was married in the Manti L D S. temple February 21, 1900, to Fredrikka Brothersen, who survives him with one son and four daughters; P. O. Hansen and Mrs. Crystal H. Smith of Salt Lake City; Mrs. Helen H. Poulson of Duchesne; Mrs. Alice H. Ashton of Heber and Mrs. Lucile H. Lipphardt of Mt. Pleasant; seven grandchildren; one sister and three brothers, Mrs. Lydia H. Backman, John H. and William Hansen, all of Mt. Pleasant, and Leonard Hansen of Las Vegas, Nev.

Ross Nordell (former Sanpete County Deputy Sheriff) Has Passed On

On the beautiful day of June 19, 2019, the Nordell family, Sanpete County and the world lost a father, a grandpa, a friend, a hero and a legend when Ross A. Nordell walked outside to hear Jesus and his beautiful bride Virginia call him home. He passed away at his home in Manti.
Ross was born May 30, 1930 to Alvin and Delores Swasey Nordell in Ferron Utah. He joined the US Army in 1945 at the age of 15 and served during World War II until 1947. He married his childhood friend and love of his life, Virginia A. Fredricksen on January 29, 1949 in Castle Dale, Utah. Together they had two sons, Larry and Lyle. Virginia preceded him in death October 24, 2017. He missed her dearly and looked forward to the day that they would once again be "Side by Side".
Ross served as a deputy sheriff with Sanpete County for 12 years while also serving with the Sanpete County Search and Rescue. He is known for loving his family, his country, our military, his poetry and love of Jesus. His walking sticks sit in the homes of all those he loved. He loved the outdoors and was riding his four wheeler up to the day he left us. His pride was his two son’s and their wives whom he called daughters.
He leaves his legacy behind to his two sons and daughters: Larry and Carolyn Nordell, Manti; Lyle and Arlene Nordell, Hurricane; grandchildren: William Nordell, Germany; Joette (Mark) Thompson, Sandy; Cody (Bonnie) Nordell, Manti; Brandon (Heather) Nordell, Texas; Ryan Nordell, Hurricane; Mickey (Jamie) Nordell, Payson; 25 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; his sister-in-law, who visited him daily, Judy (Frank) Hallman, Manti; and many friends. Ross will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Preceded in death by his parents and all of his siblings: Dean, Buster, Dewey, Randy, Lavonne, Echo and Roma.
Cremation services have been held. Memorial services will be held Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. at Ross’s residence, 580 South 300 West, Manti. Friends may call prior to services after 12:00 Noon. Burial will be in the Manti City Cemetery with military honors by the Manti American Legion Post #31. Funeral Directors: Magleby Mortuary, Richfield, Salina and Manti.  
As Grandpa always said before we departed, "Pahtakay Vassum Witchakeen Kunoos" (I'll see you again Granddaughter and Grandson ).

Leo Osman Osborne, beloved father and grandfather, passed away on July 12, 2019 surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
Leo was born the third child out of three sons on October 16, 1936 in Spring City, Utah to William Virgus and Athene Osborne. He graduated from North Sanpete High School where he was involved in sports, speech and debate and drama. He also graduated from Snow College and attended BYU. He married Lou Ann Hafen on December 9, 1955 in the Manti Temple. He and Lou Ann raised four children, Lyle, Laura Lee, Lance and Lorette, and lived in Nephi, Utah for 56 years.
Leo was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where he served in many callings including scout leader, Elders Quorum presidency, Sunday School teacher and president, and assistant ward clerk for 36 years.
He was also active in the community, helping with little league baseball and football. He enjoyed advising the Juab High School Rodeo Club, but one of his greatest accomplishments and enjoyments was being a member of the Ute Stampede Committee. He served on this committee for 49 years and Leo made life-long friendships with the men and women he served with. Leo worked for the Juab County ASCS office as a manager, and through this employment, he was involved in the National Association of ASCS where he was voted as the vice-president and president of the Utah group. He went on to serve as the secretary-treasurer with the national group of the NASCOE for 13 years and RASCOE for 7 years. Through these groups Leo traveled the country and was well known and respected for his work.
Leo enjoyed the time he spent each year hunting the Spring City mountains with his dad, brothers, sons, grandsons and nephews. He loved his family very much and he did everything he could for each individual to show them how much Grandpa Ozzie loved them. He could be heard at every function his children and grandchildren were involved in, either cheering them on or trying to make his point.
He is survived by his children, Lyle (Jodie) Osborne, Laura Lee (Kevin) Ockey, Lance (Tausha) Osborne, and Lorette Nielsen. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 63 years, Lou Ann Hafen Osborne, his parents, and his two brothers, Connell and Glen Osborne.

Lou Ann Hafen Osborne Has Passed On



Lou Ann Hafen Osborne, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away June 20, 2019 at her home surrounded by her family after a courageous battle with cancer.

She was born the third of four children on August 2, 1937 in Mt. Pleasant Utah to Mack and Merdith Hafen. She graduated from North Sanpete High School with honors. On December 9, 1955 she married Leo Osborne in the Manti Temple.

She raised her four children Lyle, Laura Lee, Lance and Lorette in Nephi Utah.

Lou Ann was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served faithfully her whole life in many callings, including President of the Young Women in her ward, Ward Relief Society President, Stake Relief Society President, Visiting Teacher, Chorister, and Choir Director. She developed many friendships while serving in these callings and she loved helping others and sharing her testimony through music. She also developed life-long friendships with those she worked with for 23 years as a school lunch lady.

Lou Ann was very organized, and kept everything around her immaculate. She honestly believed that “Cleanliness was next to Godliness.”

She loved music. Starting at a very young age she sang with her sisters and she continued throughout her life performing with her beautiful soprano voice in many programs and funerals. Many lives have been touched by her wonderful talent.

Lou Ann loved her family. She could always be seen at every function any of her children were involved in. Then she enjoyed even more supporting her grandchildren in everything they did. Every one of her grandchildren loved their “Grandma Honey.”

She is survived by her husband Leo of 58 years, her four children, Lyle, (Jodie) Osborne, Laura Lee (Kevin) Ockey, Lance (Tausha) Osborne and Lorette Nielsen, all of Nephi, two sisters, Shana Stevens of Ohio and Marcia Dansie of California, one brother, Ed Hafen of Idaho, 10 grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held Friday, June 28, 2019 at 11:00 am at the Nephi 7th Ward Chapel (222 S 100 E, Nephi, Utah) with a viewing 1 hour prior. Friends and family may call from 6:00-8:00 pm on Thursday, June 27, 2019 at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 W 300 N, Nephi, Utah.

Sandra Kae Nielson Johnson

Sandra Kae Nielson Johnson, age 81, passed away April 17, 2019 at the Sanpete Valley Hospital, surrounded by loving family after suffering from congestive heart failure. She was born June 5, 1937 in Salt Lake City to William and Sena Nielson and was raised in Ephraim. She attended Snow High in Ephraim. She met her sweetheart, Evan Philip Johnson, on a blind date. They were married on August 11, 1955, and were later sealed in the Manti Temple on April 16, 1966.
While raising her children, she attended and graduated from Mary’s College of Beauty in Provo, Utah. She owned and operated Sandra’s Country Curl in Ephraim. Art class in high school was her love and passion. When her children were older, she self taught herself how to paint. In the early nineties, Sandra was named Utah’s Leading Woman Artist. She has painted many inspiring paintings in oil, pastels, watercolors, and acrylics. Her artwork is displayed in many homes and museums all over Utah.
Sandra was very talented in many areas, there wasn’t anything she could not do. She loved the beauty of earth, and became an avid gardener. This showed in her immaculate yard that is admired by many people in the community.
Sandra loved her family. She loved to watch her grandchildren and great grands perform. Her happiest times were with her family. She wanted to live long enough to see her great-great grandchild, but was not able to. She was a member of The Church Of Jesus Christ Of Latter-Say Saints. She had a great testimony and strongly believed in priesthood blessings.
She is survived by husband, Evan Philip Johnson. Children: LuCinda (Terry) Brotherson, Mt. Pleasant; Chad (Janet) Johnson, Fairview; Cherrie (Frank) Servey, Mt. Pleasant; Carma (Berkley) White, Mt. Pleasant; Craig (Lisa) Johnson, Price, her sisters; JoAnn Hosick, Camille Oberhansley, Sena Janel Strode, and her brother William (Pete) Nielson.
Sandra has 26 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren, and a great, great grandson due in July.
Preceded in death by her parents William and Sena Nielson; sister, Dana Hensler; 2 granddaughters; Carmandee Kae Brotherson and Trina Marie Johnson; son-in-law, Greg DeMill; 6 brother-in-laws, Reed Oberhansley, Dave Hensler, Kent Larsen, Carl Johnson, Frank Hosick and Charles Young.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 23, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. in the Mount Pleasant 3rd Ward Chapel. Friends may call Monday from 6-8 p.m. and Tuesday from 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Mt.
