With hearts full of both sorrow and gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved Mary Marie Merriam Ursenbach on April 15, 2025, in the comfort of her home in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. A devoted wife, nurturing mother, cherished grandmother and great-grandmother, loving sister, and loyal friend—Mary’s legacy is one of compassion, strength, and a life joyfully and generously lived.

Born on May 4, 1931, in Manti, Utah, Mary was the daughter of Edgar and Vonda Merriam. She married the love of her life, Earl Jay Ursenbach, on August 15, 1953, in Orem, Utah. Together, they built not only a home, but a life of purpose, service, and community.

Mary is lovingly remembered by her children: Kathy (Alan) Rowe, Robyn (Bob) Norman, and Christian Ursenbach; her grandchildren: Nackole Norman, Tex Norman, Kortny (Edwyn) York, and Tyson Rowe; and great-grandchildren: Caden (Jake) Snow, Javon Norman, Jocile Norman, Keiston Norman, and Paxton Norman. She is also survived by her dear sisters Vonda Rae Poulsen, Diana Clark, and JoLynn Lund, along with her honorary sisters Suzanne Winters and Sandy Johnson.

She was preceded in death by her devoted husband; her parents; siblings Drew Merriam, Anna May Thomas, Connie Hansen, Louise Kump, Wayne Merriam and Burdell Merriam; and her beloved grandson, Wade Rowe.

Mary lived a life marked by dedication and tireless service. Side by side with her husband, she helped operate their family-owned funeral home and provided essential ambulance service for the North Sanpete area—offering comfort and care in the most difficult moments of others' lives.

Her boundless energy extended far beyond her professional roles. Mary was the heart and soul of every community she touched. A proud member of several senior groups in Mt. Pleasant, Moroni, and Fairview, she also joyfully participated in the Red Hat Society, the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers, and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. Her home was always open—especially for a game of cards, where laughter echoed and friendships deepened.

Mary had an abiding love for nature and adventure. She found joy in the mountains, in long walks, hikes, shopping trips, and travel. And in true Mary fashion, she never passed up a good plate of French fries—her simple, guilty pleasure that always brought a smile to her face.

Animals found a champion in her as well; Mary was known for rescuing and caring for both cats and dogs with the same tenderness she showed all living things.

Her spirit of service knew no bounds. She was one of the most beloved and impactful 4-H leaders in the community, shaping the lives of generations with her wisdom and encouragement. Whether offering rides to appointments, lending a helping hand around the house, or simply being present with a listening ear, Mary’s kindness was as constant as it was selfless.

Mary’s legacy is one of service, joy, and deep, enduring love. She leaves behind a tapestry of memories that will continue to inspire and comfort all who were blessed to know her.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday April 22, 2025 at 11:00 a.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary (96 N 100 W) Mount Pleasant, UT. Viewing on Tuesday from 9:45-11:00 a.m. at Rasmussen Mortuary prior to funeral. Interment in the Mount Pleasant City Cemetery.

A special thanks to IHC Hospice, Dr. Eileen Jackson and her son Chris for his loving care, during Mary’s declining years. Contributions can be made to the Mt. Pleasant City Library in Mary's name.

Lois J. Poulsen

06/21/1917 – 09/01/2012

Lois J Poulsen, born June 21, 1917. Beloved wife, mother, grandma, grandma great and grandma great-great passed away very peacefully at 1:55 a.m. Sept. 1, 2012.
She married Hans B. Poulsen November 16, 1936 in Price, UT. Their marriage was later solemnized April 24, 1965 in the Manti Temple. Hans passed away May 1, 1985.
Lois knew nothing but hard work and tend babies her whole life. She talked a lot about helping her father in the fields every day. She loved to eat and always ate everything especially her desserts. Her sister Margaret always said “Give it to Lois, she will eat it.”
She was very proud of her four boys and they loved her very much. She was also very proud of the fact that she graduated from Wasatch Academy. She ate and fought for life to the very end. She worked at the Moroni Processing Plant and J.C. Pennys. She will be missed very much for her quick whit and her beautiful smile. She is survived by her two sons Dick (Donna) and Tony (Connie); daughter-in-law Vonda Rae Poulsen. She is preceded in death by Mother and Father Elmer and Helma Jensen, brothers and sister Russel, Margaret and Jack; sons Wayne and David; granddaughter and grandson Paige and Trent; great-great granddaughter Jordan.
The family wishes to thank Autumn Park and Intermountain Hospice for their wonderful care and their never-ending thoughtfulness. She was also tenderly cared for by her loving daughter-in-law Donna Poulsen.
Graveside services will be Wednesday, September 5, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery with viewing prior at Rasmussen Mortuary from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m.

Lynn Poulsen

January 20, 1921 ~ July 3, 2012

Lynn R Poulsen passed away on July 3, 2012 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Lynn was born on January 20, 1921 to LeRoy and Lydia Poulsen in Rexburg, Idaho. He was the youngest of five children with two brothers, Harold and Earl, and two sisters, Estelle and Afton. He spent his early years in Mt. Pleasant, Utah and spent two years in the Utah Army National Guard, assigned to the 222nd Field Artillery Battalion, before being activated for combat duty in World War II. Lynn was stationed in Harford, England, when the German invasion of France began. In 1944 he was sent to Normandy and assigned as a forward observer to the 204th Field Artillery Battalion-part of the 20th Corps of Patton's 3rd Army. In Granville, France, Lynn was shot three times, but the hospital had so many casualties he had to be moved to a soccer field where he was placed in a six-man tent. While on the operating table, German aircraft bombed the area. The medical personnel fled and left him alone on the table. Luckily, his best friend, Bill Beck, rescued him from the bombing. For his service he received a Purple Heart American Defense Medal, Good Conduct Medal and one of eleven Honorees recognized at University of Utah's Veterans Day Commemoration Celebration, November 11, 2011. He was very patriotic and proud of his military service.
Lynn married Gwen Pritchett on Oct 19, 1946 in Mt. Pleasant, Utah. Marriage later solemnized in the Manti Temple, December 30, 1959. Lynn and Gwen were the proud parents of four daughters. Lynn spent the first years of his career as manager of Safeway stores, moving to Wendover in 1956 to manage the family owned Wendover Motel. Lynn and Gwen were very involved in church and community affairs. Lynn held many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints including high councilman, counselor in bishoprics, scout leader, Bishop of the Wendover Ward and a Sealer in the Manti Temple. He was Justice of the Peace, Tooele County, Wendover City Judge, and Utah Highway Patrol Honorary Colonel. Lynn and Gwen retired to Mt. Pleasant, Utah in October, 1987. Lynn was a charming and engaging man with an exceptional sense of humor who loved life and loved sharing his experiences through humorous stories. He had a passion for the Western history and culture.
Lynn is preceded in death by parents, wife, daughter, Kaye Poulsen Despain, and grandson, Robert David Kikumoto.
He is survived by daughters, Nanette (David) Kikumoto, Greenwood Village, CO, Wendy (Michael) Linares, Draper, UT, and Becky Poulsen Longson, Denver, CO. 14 grandchildren, David, Anthony, Mollee, Aaron, Alicia, Charles, Hilary, Jordan, Joshua, Christian, Jared, Courtland and Nicholas, and 23 great grandchildren. We will miss you Dad. God be with you 'til we meet again.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Mt. Pleasant LDS Chapel, 295 South State, Mt. Pleasant, Utah at 12:00 noon. A visitation will be held on Friday, July 6, at the chapel from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. as well as Saturday, July 7, 10:30 - 11:45 p.m. Interment, Mt. Pleasant Cemetery. Services under the direction of Rasmussen Mortuary.
