Gary Elliot Arnoldson

February 23, 1951 — July 22, 2025

With hearts full of love and gratitude, we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend, Gary Elliot Arnoldson, who returned to his Heavenly Father on July 22, 2025, while exploring the Crow Canyon area of the beautiful Uinta Mountains—one of his favorite places on earth.

Gary was born on February 23, 1951, in Preston, Idaho, to Elliott Julius Arnoldson and Rinda LaRane Bjerrgaard, both of whom preceded him in death. He was the second of six children and is survived by his siblings Rinda (John) Thompson, Layne (Sheri) Arnoldson, Earl (Christine) Arnoldson, and Wesley (Ellen) Arnoldson, and is reunited in heaven with his brother Clair (JoAnn) Arnoldson.

On September 15, 1972, Gary was sealed to his eternal companion, Leslie Ilene Shelley, in the Manti Utah LDS Temple. Together, they built a loving home and raised a devoted family:

Tara & Jeff Lund, Daina & Logan Freeman, Phillip & JeuneElle Arnoldson, Cody & Jordyn Arnoldson, Daniel & Tamar Arnoldson, Denim & Brooke Arnoldson, and Kyle & Jessica Arnoldson. He leaves behind 29 grandchildren and one great-grandchild, who will carry forward his legacy of faith, love, and adventure.

Gary was a man of quiet strength, unwavering discipline, and deep humility. He worked as an accountant in secondary education and also operated his own tax business—not for profit, but to serve the hundreds of individuals and families in his community, often charging little or nothing at all.

He served faithfully in the U.S. Army, National Guard, and Air Force, and later devoted much of his life in service to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. His many callings included Scout Master, Bishop, Stake President, Ministering Brother, Temple Worker, and Branch President of the Reykjavik Iceland Branch. He was a proud recipient of the Silver Beaver Award in scouting and completed Wood Badge training. He also served three missions throughout his life—in the England North British Mission, the Australia Perth Mission, and the Denmark Copenhagen Mission.

Gary’s love for the outdoors was matched only by his love for people. He took his family on annual backpacking trips and led countless youth on wilderness adventures filled with hiking, fishing, white water rafting, and spiritual growth. A gifted guitarist, he regularly played for senior centers and for his grandchildren, brightening lives with his music and cheerful presence.

He found special joy in serving the widows in his community, often enlisting his five sons to deliver freshly caught fish or chopped firewood to those in need. Gary was a social butterfly, able to make friends with anyone, anywhere. His life was one of quiet sacrifice, and every act—big or small—was driven by his loyalty, love, and deep sense of duty.

Gary found great peace in temple work and was known to attend and serve in the temple multiple times each week. His faith defined him, and his family was his greatest treasure. He let us know often how proud he was of each of us—and he showed it in every part of how he lived.

A viewing will be held on Monday, July 28, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, July 29, from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. at 461 N. 300 W., Mt. Pleasant, Utah 84647. The funeral service will follow on Tuesday, July 29, at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. He will be laid to rest at the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.

Dad, we love you. We honor the life you lived and the legacy you’ve left us. Thank you for everything.

Charles Dale Thompson

 

Charles and Margaret were our home teachers for a couple of years.  We enjoyed having them come for a visit.~~~~~ Kathy Hafen 

Our loving husband, father and friend Charles Dale Thompson moved on to “the next great adventure” August 21, 2021 at his home in Mount Pleasant to join his loved ones who had gone on before. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him. He was born May 8, 1944 to Charles Earl and Lois Valera Rust Thompson in Fairbury, Nebraska.

He served a church mission to Northern Germany from 1964-66 where he had many great experiences. After his mission he returned to BYU where he earned his B.S. in Chemistry and Math. While there he met the love of his life and on Dec 19, 1968 married Margaret Ann Peebles in the Manti Temple. Together they saw the world, traveling to 6 of the 7 continents and seeing the 7th from a cruise ship.

He had a passion for knowledge and was an avid reader, genealogist, square dancer, and scriptorian.

He leaves behind his wife and eight of his nine children. Sons, C. Alan (Tamara), David (Jennifer), Steven (Racheal), Matthew (Michelle), Nathan (Catherine), Kenneth [dec] (Katrina), Lance (Tiffany) and daughters, Barbara (Rulon) Rasmussen Jessop and Jolene (Clint) Bissell. Also 36 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and son Kenny.

A viewing will be held August 28 from 9:00 -10:30 am at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mount Pleasant with a graveside service to follow at Mount Pleasant City Cemetery at 11:00 am.

Loyce Elaine Schuhmann, Shauna Lue Johnson, Peggy Poulson , Thompson

 

Loyce Elaine Schuhmann, age 79, Mt. Pleasant, Ut, peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven on June 30, 2021, at her home surrounded by her family. Loyce was born June 23, 1942, in San Diego, CA. She graduated from La Mesa High School in 1959. She then moved to Houston, TX where she met the love of her life, Jon Schuhmann. Loyce and Jon were married on July 3, 1960, in Houston, TX. Shortly after getting married, Loyce and Jon started their family. On July 4, 1961, a son, Chris joined the family. Soon a little girl, Terry April 25, 1963, came along. After living in Texas for a number of years, the family moved to southern California. There they added another little girl Kelly January 24, 1968, and then another baby boy, Michael November 27, 1970. While living in California, Loyce enjoyed her work as the District Office Manager of Lucky’s Grocery Stores.
After joining the church in September 1977, they were sealed as a forever family in the Los Angeles Temple on December 1, 1978.

After almost 20 years in California, Loyce and Jon and Jon decided to retire from their busy jobs and move to Utah. They finally landed in Mt. Pleasant, Utah where they have happily lived for 35 years. After moving to Utah, Loye and Jon had numerous businesses, but Loyce’s favorite was Jecs Office Supply and Craft Coop. Loyce loved being a businesswoman.

After joining the church, Loyce had many callings. She served in the Primary and Young Women's. She was the ward chorister and sang in the ward and community choirs. One of her favorite callings was the Advancement Leader in Scouting. She had that calling for 8 years and at that time she helped 17 young men earn the Eagle Scout award that she was so proud of.
Those boys were incredibly grateful to her and her dedication in helping them. Loyce was also a very devoted Temple worker and served in the Manti Temple cafeteria for 8 years. Loyce was also called to do Indexing (Genealogy) at the Gunnison Prison. Loyce and Jon were also called to go to the prison and do Family Home Evenings there on Monday nights. They enjoyed serving together for 5 years at the prison.

Loyce absolutely engulfed herself in doing the genealogy work for her family. She spent many days and nights working on it at home and the Family History Center. Loyce was an avid journal writer. Loyce loved to serve her Heavenly Father in any way that she could. She was continually serving those around her.

In her early years, Loyce loved to do oil painting. She loved quilting with her mother-in-law when she would come to visit for 6 months during the summer for many years. Loyce enjoyed having a big family garden. She enjoyed canning and sharing the harvest that their hard work produced.

Loyce loved to go to the many yard sales on Saturday morning with her good friend Genial.
Loyce’s greatest joy in this life was her family. Whether they were gathered together at Palisades, or Sunday dinners, birthdays, BBQs, card games, board games, or kickball in the front yard, it was being together as a family that she loved most. Besides her family, Loyce’s fur babies were loved just as much as her family. Loyce loved to sit out on the front porch at night with her sweetheart and enjoy the peacefulness of the town.
Loyce is survived by her eternal companion of 61 years Jon and their children Chris(Angela) Terry (Brett Bradley), Kelly (Dan Hermansen-deceased) and Michael (Deon), her sister, Dee Engelhard, 18 Grandchildren and 23 Great along with many nieces, nephew, and dear friends. She is preceded in death by her Grandmother Nora Bryan, Monroe and Alma Schuhmann Evelyn and Ted Newman, sister, Sammie Domich, Aunt Freida Newman, and Dan Hermansen, her son-in-law.

In lieu of flowers please a donation would be appreciated to the Schuhmann Family Trust for Jon at Utah Heritage Credit Union.

Funeral services will be held Friday, July 9, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant 5th Ward Chapel (Red Brick Church). Viewings will be held Thursday, July 8, 2021, from 6-8 p.m and Friday 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services all at the church. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery under the care of Rasmussen Mortuary.

Shauna Lue Johnson

Shauna Lue Larsen Johnson, age 73, Mt. Pleasant peacefully returned to her Father in Heaven on June 24th, 2021at her home surrounded by her family.
Shauna was born in Mt. Pleasant, to Charles LaDon Larsen and Phyllis LaRue Allred Larsen, Chester. Shauna married Boyd Loftin Johnson on December 9, 1966, in Chester, Ut. They enjoyed 54 yrs together and raised six children.
Shauna enjoyed the simple things in life. She enjoyed spending time with her family. She loved to hang out with her grandkids always joking, teasing, and arm-wrestling with them. She was always the life of the party.

 Shauna enjoyed sewing and making things with plastic canvas. She loved doing word searches and reading books. She loved collecting rabbits and frogs. She was always rearranging her bookshelves and nick-nacks. She will forever be loved and missed by her family.
Shauna is survived by her husband Boyd- brother Karl Larsen-Nephi, five children. Rydell (Jeanie) Johnson-Spanish Fork, Jared (Jennifer) Johnson-Las Vegas, Cindy (Terry) Gleason-Coalville, Stephanie (Troy) Spring City, Brandon (Jenny) Johnson, Spring City, 21 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren. Shauna is preceded in death by her daughter Wendy, her parents, twin sister Donna, sister Paulette, and brother Russell.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 6, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant 4th Ward Chapel. Viewings will be held Monday, July 5, 2021, from 6-8 p.m at Rasmussen Mortuary and Tuesday 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the chapel. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery. Peggy Ann Poulson Thompson

“Together Again”

Peggy Ann Poulson Thompson returned to her Heavenly Father on June 27, 2021. Peggy was born on May 26, 1948, to Ralph and Afton Poulson. She only weighed a meager two pounds, and at the time was kept in the oven and fed with a dropper. She was a fighter from day one and continued to be her entire life. She married the love of her life, Jim Thompson, on July 7, 1967, a couple months after he returned from Vietnam. Peggy was a great wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed being around people and she had many friends. She loved her family with all her heart. She was always having us all over for family get-togethers, and we all enjoyed them so much. She will be greatly missed. Peggy will always be remembered for her kind and humble heart.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband, Jim Thompson, son Clay Thompson, grandson, Kaden Scott Collard; Brother Alan Johansen.

She is survived by her daughters, Lisa (Scott) Collard, Valorie (Darin) Eliason; son, Trent (Cari) Thompson; daughter-in-law, Rayleen Thompson; brothers, Steve (Marilyn) Poulson, Ted Poulson; 13 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 7, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at the Old Rock Church in Spring City, Utah (164 S Main Street, Spring City). A viewing will be held on Tuesday, July 6th from 6:00 -8:00 p.m at Rasmussen Mortuary in Mt.
