Terrel Morley Seely (81) passed away Friday, March 13th, 2026 after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease. He passed away peacefully surrounded by his wife and family.

Terrel was a husband, father, business owner, traveler, tennis player, golfer, pilot and friend to all those who knew him.

Terrel was born May 15th, 1944 to Ray Edwin Seely and Mildred Morley Seely. He was the youngest of 8 children and was the first of his siblings to be born in a hospital. His older siblings were Cherron Ray, Miriam Adela, Norma, Marlane, Robert Edwin, Marilyn, and SueAnn.

At 6 years old, Terrel contracted Polio and was flown to Salt Lake City Hospital by his doctor. Several years later, Terrel would get his pilot’s license and continue to fly for decades.

He served as a missionary for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in New Zealand. Later, in 1966, he joined the National Guard and served his country for 7 years.

In 1968, he was attending Brigham Young University in Provo when he met the love of his life, Glenda Westwood. They dated for over 2 years before getting married on August 28th, 1970.

He graduated with a degree in Zoology with plans of becoming a fish and game officer. However, in 1973, an opportunity came up to purchase the Red and White Grocery store in Mt. Pleasant. Terrel, Glenda, and their oldest two children at the time began the family business. Later, he would purchase the Safeway building which became Terrel’s Foodtown. In 1991, he moved the store into its current location and called it Terrel’s Market. He always valued integrity, honesty and genuine care for others in his business ventures.

Serving his community was always important to Terrel. He served as Bishop of the Mt. Pleasant 4th Ward in 1980. He also served as a director and board member of Associated Foods, and Chairman of the Board for the Utah Grocers Association.

He served a second mission with Glenda in 2004 which was split between South Africa’s Area Office, and St. George, UT’s historic sites.

In 2012, he and Glenda were the Grand Marshals of the Hub City Days Parade. They felt so honored by the community they love.

Terrel is survived by his sister Marlane, his wife Glenda, and their 7 children. Robert (Elisa) Seely, Jennifer (Chris) McIff, Joe (Julia) Seely, John (Jordan) Seely, James (Shannon) Seely, Michelle (Vern) Akauola,, and Natalie (Rex) Hansen. They have 24 grandchildren and 2 great-grand children.

Terrel leaves behind a legacy of love for family, faith and community.

The family would like to thank all of the wonderful medical doctors and staff that have helped Terrel over the past several years. Your efforts and compassion have been a blessing and we are very grateful for you.

There will be a viewing the evening of Friday, March 20th, from 6 to 8 PM. This viewing will be held at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints located at 461 N 300 W, Mt Pleasant, UT 84647.

Another viewing will be held Saturday, March 21st, from 11AM to 12:30PM at the same church building.

This will be followed by funeral services at 1 PM at that same location. Intermnet in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.

Dick Lee James, 75 of Mt. Pleasant, Utah passed away on August 17, 2022, at Utah Valley Hospital. Dick was born on June 21, 1947 to Windom Erval and Thelma Hammond James in Fayette, Utah.

Dick enlisted in the US Airforce and served his country honorably during Vietnam from 1966 to 1969.

Mining took Dick and his family to Colorado and Montana before settling in Fairview, Utah where he was an electrician at Skyline Coal mine. After retiring from the coal mine Dick worked as an electrician at Snow College where he retired in 2013.

Dick loved his boys more than life itself and could not have been more proud of them. He looked forward to every phone call and every visit. As much as Dick loved his kids his grandkids were the light of his life and he smiled the biggest when he was around them or talking about them. He supported his family in every way possible. He never missed a birthday and made sure birthday cards were in the mail at least two weeks early.

Dick is survived by his children Bruce (Sophia), Evans, GA; Eric (Kristy), Santaquin; Matthew (Noelle), Cedar City; Kristie Ison, Fairview; Jennifer (Tom) Seeley, Mt. Pleasant; Shylo (Corey) Tibbs, Mt. Pleasant; Zachary (Niesha) Peterson, Mt. Pleasant; Mandy (Chance) Schmidt, Fairview. His grandchildren Brianna, Jaxon, Katelynn (Kyle), Jaycee, Weston, Kyla, Jaielle, Hudson, and Isabella.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his loving wife Starla Parks James.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, August 25, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. in the Mt. Pleasant North Stake Center (461 N 300 W) with a visitation from 9:30 – 10:30 a.m. Interment in the Mt. Pleasant City Cemetery.

John Ross Seely

 

 John Ross Seely, 66, of Nephi, Utah passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. He was born on November 7, 1946, the oldest of four brothers to John Rayner and Virginia Vance Seely in Provo, Utah.

He grew up in Mt Pleasant, attending school in the Sanpete County schools. His family later moved to Blanding, Utah where he attended San Juan High School and loved sports. John also attended CSU and Utah Tech College. He entered the US Army from 1964-1966 in Germany receiving an Honorable Discharge. He spent most of his career in the Trucking Industry. He married Joanne Somers June 29, 1968; their marriage was later solemnized in the Manti Temple.
He is survived by his wife, Joanne; sons Justin D. (Stacy) and Jeffrey R. (Trinity) Seely. Grandchildren: Ashton, Addison, Aiden, Kathryn, Wyatt, Tap and Samuel. Brothers include Robert R., Vance L., and Casey D. along with numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his youngest son Jacob Vance with whom he is having a momentous reunion.

Funeral services will be held on August 24, 2013 at the Nephi Stake Center, 351 North 100 West Nephi, Utah at 12:00 Noon with viewing from 10:00-11:30 AM. Interment will be at the Vine Bluff Cemetery in Nephi following the services.  

I had the opportunity to visit with John (Johny Ross) a couple of years before he died. 

 He had brought his grandmother Ina Morgan over to Mt. Pleasant for a funeral. He told me he missed all of his classmates here in Mt. Pleasant and he asked about many of them.

His father insisted they were going to move to
Blanding against the wishes of the family.

He had spent most of his working career as a truck driver but had to give it up because of
his failing eyesight. Kathy

  Kathy: This is a very good friend of mine who went to North Sanpete for five yrs. I wanted to write something about him as there was no obit or anything. I did not know all he done but he had a impact on the Navajos as he was very active with the missionaries program there. He was married but they divorced and I never knew her. He never knew when he was born h told me this.

Gayle Lynne Seely of Mt. Pleasant Utah returned to her Heavenly Father on October 18, 2020. She was born June 13, 1956 to Arnold Van Terry and Edith Kaye LeDuc in Salt Lake City, Utah. She was married for time and all eternity to Steven Burt Seely August 3, 1974 in the Provo, Utah Temple.

Gayle and Steven settled in Mt. Pleasant Utah where they raised four sons, Steve, Brian, Jeffrey, and Kevin.
Gayle was a devoted, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a confidante. She was always there for her sons and family, no matter what was going on, whether it be lending a helping hand, babysitting, or just being there to talk. Her life was her family. She loved her family with a passion that was immeasurable.

Gayle loved to be outdoors. She loved camping trips with her family. She always made a big breakfast to share and she was always prepared. If something was forgotten, Gayle would usually have it, ready and willing to share.

She had a love for gardening, canning and preserving food to feed to her family.

Gayle was a wonderful homemaker. She enjoyed sewing clothes, which she did for her boys as they were growing up. She also sewed doll clothing and spent hours sewing beautiful quilts for her family to enjoy.

Gayle loved animals! It was a good thing she married a farmer, which allowed her to have many animals over the years. She loved raising goats, even if it meant milking them in the rain. She loved her chickens and gathered the eggs for breakfasts. She loved her cats, especially her Manx cats. She also loved many dogs over the years, with a particular soft spot for her dog Rosie.

Throughout the years she worked as a lunch lady, sold doll clothes that she made, sold products ranging from cosmetics to cleaning products. She worked for a local farmer’s market the last several years. She did all this while helping run the family farm with Steven.

Gayle knew how to work and was a hard worker. She helped with branding and vaccinating the cattle, separating the cows, hauling the livestock to auction, and chasing down stray sheep that got out. She was there for it all, right alongside her boys. She even operated the farm equipment at times. She did it all.
She was a cub scout den mother and helped her sons, some of her grandsons, and many others through the scout program, working with some to earn their Eagle Scout awards.

She had an immense love of God and The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She had a firm belief in the gospel, even in times of trial. When she and Steven lost their first born son Neil, and then again when they lost Jeffrey, she never lost her faith in her Heavenly Father or the gospel.

She is survived by her mother, Edith Kaye LeDuc, Sandy, UT; Husband Steven Seely; sons, Steve (Amanda) Seely, Moroni, UT; Brian (Kamey) Seely, Mt. Pleasant, UT; Hillery Morrow (Forrest), Ephraim, UT; Kevin (Aileen) Seely, Mayfield, UT;
Siblings, Susan (Dee) Rosenlof; Cindy (Phil) Ballif; Frank (Raelene) Terry; Jeannette Ingersoll; Paul (Shelly) Terry; Jamie (Mark) Dunfield; Daniel (Kami) Terry; Becky (Cade) Beck; and 14 grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father Arnold Van Terry, and sons, Neil Seely and Jeffrey Allan Seely.
Funeral services were held Friday, October 23, 2020, at 1:00 p.m.

Danny Ross Dyches, 68, passed on, October 28, 2019, surrounded by his loving family. Danny was born Nov. 6, 1950 in Mt. Pleasant, Ut. to Dean and LaRae Carlson Dyches. He married Barbara Joan Johansen on June 7, 1975 in the Manti LDS Temple. They have a son, Jeremy (deceased); grandson, Brody; daughter, Nicole (Jason) Larson; granddaughters, Olivia, Brooklyn, and Gracie; daughter, Raquel Christensen; granddaughter Janee, grandsons Jaxon and Braxton. Danny was a State Farm agent for 41 years. Danny lived life to the fullest. He was a turkey grower, enjoyed farming, hunting, visiting with family and friends, riding the West mountain, and especially the deer hunt. Danny’s favorite holidays were the 4th of July and Christmas-riding around playing music. He loved spending time with his friends, family, and grandchildren. Danny had a love for everyone and will be missed by all who knew him. He loved serving his community, as Mayor of Moroni City, by taking care of the ball field and cemetery, and waving to everyone he saw. Danny was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and had an unconditional love for all. Danny is survived by grandson, Brody; daughter Nicole (Jason) Larson, granddaughters, Olivia, Brooklyn, and Gracie; daughter, Raquel Christensen; granddaughter Janee, grandsons Jaxon and Braxton. Danny was preceded in death by his wife, Joan, son Jeremy, his parents, Dean and LaRae Dyches, and siblings, Ranae Seely, Vernon Dyches, and Oleaha Mower, and many wonderful aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Velores Seely was born on August 26th, 1923 and passed away peacefully on April 9th, 2016. On April 21st, 1944 she married Cherron Ray Seely and together they had four boys: Edward Kay, Scott Lee, Stanton Cherron, and Tom Ray. She worked for Safeways and Ship Service in San Diego during World War II while Cherron was in the Navy. She later returned to Mount Pleasant to start a family and where she and Cherron had a successful turkey farm.After her last child, Tom, was born she worked for Terrel’s Grocery until she retired in 2004. She loved spending time with the members of the Laicos club, being a member of the Elk’s club, and going dancing with Cherron where she made many great lifelong friends. Her favorite pastime was having her family over to cook for and visit with. She loved every minute spent visiting with friends and family. She was preceded in death by her parents Wilford (Bill) K and Mina Syndergaard Peterson, brothers Ferry and Ray, sister Blanch, husband Cherron Ray Seely, and son Stanton. NEPHI-- Our Mothers angelic spirit ascended into the eternal sphere leaving her earthly remains in repose. This graduation occurred Sept. 25, 2013.

Mother was born in Mt. Pleasant, July 31, 1913, and grew up in Sanpete where her family was involved in farming, ranching and U. S Government Indian Services.

She was the daughter of the late John Leo and Edna Lucille Rolph Seely and the granddaughter of the late John Henry and Margaretta Folkman Peel Seely and Magnus Gustavus and Anna Johanna Knudsen Rolph.

Ina was a graduate of North Sanpete High School, class of 1931, where she was involved in student government as well as many school activities. After high school, Mother attended BYU for two years (always a faithful BYU fan) and then accepted employment in Salt Lake City.

Mother met and fell in love with Frank Othello Morgan in 1930 and they were married Oct, 6, 1935; moving to Nephi, to live and start their family in the farming and the ranching business. Their marriage was later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

She taught business classes at Juab High School and then worked for the Juab County Hospital from 1952 to 1979 as office manager. While making her home in Nephi, Mother served as PTA President for two years, a member of Lit-A-Lure and 20th Century Ladies Federated Clubs, as well as being involved with many other church and civic duties.

other toiled side-by-side with her husband and sons managing sheep and cattle herds and dry and irrigated farms. She was an avid fan and supporter of the Nephi Ute Stampede, attending every Friday evening performance of the rodeo for the past 79 years, a perfect attendance record.

Mother was an active and dedicated member of the LDS Church and served in many callings, compassionate service was her most favorite and naturally gifted stewardship.

Mother and dad were the parents of four boys, Charles William Morgan (Bill); Dr. Stephen Seely Morgan; Jon Leo Morgan and Michael Pressley Morgan.

Mother followed the admonition of her Savior to Love Thy Neighbor As Thyself. Many of her acts of service by-passed human recognition but penetrated the hearts of those she served. Her influence, which touched the lives of legions, will be felt throughout eternity.

Mother was an elect lady of her Heavenly Father. Her core values were based on peace and love. One of her favorite sayings was, Never trust yourself in anger. She served as a peace maker with family, friends and strangers.

Jewels in her crown she is leaving behind are her sons, Dr. Stephen S. (Analee) and Michael P. Morgan; grandchildren, Julie M. Bosh (Larry), Lori M. Lee (Preston), Dr. Kyle (Emily), Dr. Christopher (Natalie) and Chauntel Morgan, RDH; 12 great-grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; sister, Lucy Rae Seely Capel; sister-in-law, Marjorie Payne Seely; daughter-in-law, Helen T. Morgan and daughter and dear friend, Joanne Seely.

All her nieces, nephews and many friends bid her farewell and express gratitude for being a gracious mother to each of them making each one feel special.

Greeting Mother at the veil will be her eternal companion, Frank O. Morgan; sons, Bill and Jon Morgan; her parents; grand and great-grandparents; brothers, Mark, Robert, Duskee, Edwin and John Seely; sister, Chesla Seely Patterson; grandson, Dr. Chad T. Morgan; and nephews, Jeff Capel, Jake and Johnny Ross Seely as well as numerous friends and family members.

Funeral celebration services will take place at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 4, in the Nephi Utah LDS Stake Center, 351 North 100 West, Nephi.

A viewing for family and friends will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 3, at the Anderson Funeral Home, 94 West 300 North, Nephi; and at the Stake Center one hour prior to services.

Interment will be in the Nephi Vine Bluff Cemetery.
